The Wonderful Word (well, phrase to be exact) for this Wednesday is ‘Lifelong Learner’
Do you consider yourself to be a Lifelong Learner? Even if you don’t, I bet you are!
Consider These Questions:
- Have you learned any new technology lately? I mean, how can you avoid that?
- Have you tried a new recipe? If you haven’t, I’m pretty sure your fam will appreciate it if you did! wink.
- Have you tried a new style to wear? This is one that’s tougher for me, I have to see a style on others for a few years before I MIGHT warm up to it, but I eventually get on board, sorta.
- Have you seen someone doing something that intrigues you and asked them to teach you about it?
So you see? We are all lifelong learners, whether we like it or not!
I am a person who LOVES learning. I loved school all the way through college, masters degree, and beyond. When I graduated college, I cried. Not because I was so happy, but because I didn’t want it to end. College was my happy place.
So I went on to be a teacher, because, well, If I couldn’t be life long college student, at least I could teach others to be Lifelong Learners.
And NOW that I’ve started my own business, what is it about? Learning all kinds of creative skills so I can share them with you! Perfection.
This explains why I love Workshop Week so much each year. It’s 5 days FULL of free learning and the topics are all of my favorite things! It’s bliss.
Here are some of the things I learned during Workshop Week:
(The pics are work I completed based off of the workshops I took. Some I followed exactly, some I tweaked just a few things, and others I used the key concept, but took off in my own style.)
I learned some new ideas about painting with acrylics from Megan Wells (Funky Floral Art Journaling) and painting with gouache from Zaneena Nabeel (Dreamy Seascapes in Gouache).
I learned some new fun ideas for my BUJO (Bullet Journal for those who aren’t woke) from Shayda Campbell and Elizabeth Gray:
I learned some new lettering techniques both on Procreate (an iPad app) from Loveleigh Loops and with pen and paper from Hayley Barry:
There was soooo much more, but you get the gist.
I’ll remember the key concepts from all of these workshops and those little tidbits will integrate into my own creative work. This is how we improve and keep evolving as creatives 🙂
(The other piece of evolving as a creative is time to ‘play’ but that’s another post.)
What About YOU?
What new thing are you excited about learning? What is your list of ‘want to learns’? Write them down!
Okay fellow lifers of learning, GO FORTH and learn all the things 🙂

I love this Kim. It reminds me how writing, publishing, and marketing my book have kept me a life-long learner.
