The Wonderful Word for This Wednesday is
‘Products’
Friends! I’ve been working on this surface design thing for months. I took Bonnie Christine’s ‘Immersion’ class and learned a TON including how to navigate and create in Adobe Illustrator (kinda).
My goal was to get my art on products that I love and get them out in the world. In my opinion, one of the easiest ways to bring a bit of joy in your life is to surround yourself with things you love and that please your senses.
So today I’m introducing you to my Zazzle Store! Drum Roll Please……
Be sure to click ‘Follow’ once you get to the store!
Ta-Da!
Zazzle is a POD (Print on Demand) site. Artists upload their art and choose which products they want to put it on and create a virtual store where you can browse and choose unique one of a kind things you would like to buy. When you buy something, it is at that point that Zazzle makes that item and sends it to you. They do not carry inventory, they only make what people buy. Pretty cool huh?
Here’s how to navigate this type of store
*FYI – all example photos are actual products in my store and are my original art.
When you first go to my store, you’ll see many individual products and you can look at everything that way, OR, you can scroll down a bit and look at my ‘collections’ which are basically categories for the products. Be sure to click “View All Collections”. Some of the collections have many things and some only have one or two so far. Not to worry, there is WAY more to come.
When you click on a product you like, you can customize it. For example, the notebooks have different kinds of paper you can choose from like lined, grid, dot grid, and blank, as well as different spiral colors and more, so make sure you select your choices!
The zipper pouches come in a few sizes and you can even switch it to a fanny pack or other types of bags, so check that out. It tells you how much more or less you’ll pay for a different item. For example, this Small Accessory Pouch costs $13.40 but if you change it to a Fanny Pack the price will increase by $27.90 but the price will be lower once you add it to cart as they calculate the savings (seen in red). When I added this as a Fanny Pack to my cart the current price was $31.96. The $13.40 for the Small Accessory Pouch has already included the savings.
There are various sizes and shapes of mugs, so if you look at one and you like the design but want it in a different size you can choose:
Please ‘Heart’ the products you like
As you browse, please click the little heart in the left hand corner if you like the product / design. Even just looking at products and ‘liking’ them will be a big help to this girl!
Lastly, if you like a certain piece of art and want it on a different product than what you find in my store, just click something with that design on it and scroll down on the product page and you will see a section titled, “Transfer design to a product”.
Have fun Browsing!
Okay, yes I know Mother’s Day is over, but someone’s birthday is always coming up! Or, treat yourself to a new notebook or mug! Surround yourself with pretty things that nobody else has.
Meanwhile, perhaps you’d like to do what my mom is doing. She is ordering a bunch of things she would give as gifts and keeping them in a ‘Giving Box’ at her house. Then when a friend texts her to say, “It’s ______’s birthday today!” she can just dig around in that box and find an item that person would love as if she had planned for it. I’ll never tell!
That’s all for now folks, but check the store frequently because I’m making new art and products on the daily.

I definitely recommend it! It has helped me hone my craft and figure out what products I want to create etc. Let me know if you have any specific questions! (this will say it’s Rick Paulson replying, but it’s me Kim – Rick is my Uncle who manages my website)
